We love to answer all your questions, hear your ideas and concerns, and give consultations on your practice. We don't teach assembly-line Yoga here! We have seen the power that a wellness and fitness practice can have for personal transformation and our teachers are committed to help you achieve and sustain it. We strive to provide an intimate and personal atmosphere that is clean, calm, and healing. We hope you will find Yoga Now to be a sanctuary. For the beginner we believe that yoga should be accessible--not an Olympic-style event. We offer many "Gentle" introductory classes entirely appropriate for true beginners (or even persons with minor injuries). Trust us--the benefits of yoga exercise can be experienced at all levels, by anyone, at any age. We actually think that the person who can mostly benefit from yoga is the mainstream person who has been using traditional Western methods of fitness--or maybe none at all. So come see how good yoga can make you feel! For the yoga enthusiast we believe in choice: we offer not just one style of yoga as other studios do, but several. Each person can either deepen their practice in a particular favorite style or branch out and experiment with others. We want to offer something for everyone--so come meet our eclectic and experienced teaching staff! Our facilities include:
How to attend a class:
YOGA NOW class descriptions Gentle – Slow Flow (all levels) This class is designed as the perfect introduction to yoga, for absolutely any and every one. No one can ever feel out of place in this class, and everyone will feel they belong. The class is a mild practice session that is entirely appropriate for true beginners, more experienced students looking for a gentle stretch, or even for persons with minor injuries or physical limitations. This class is also appropriate during pregnancy (just let the teacher know that you are expecting at the start of the class). The overall pace is slow and steady, with gentle warm-ups and attention to the details of each posture. Hatha Yoga (all levels) This general yoga style utilizes different postures and flows for the purpose of strengthening, opening, and cleansing the body. Please note that this general-style class is conducted in a unique way by each different instructor--so Hatha with one teacher might not be the same experience as Hatha with another teacher. Ashtanga Yoga (beginning to moderate levels) This method of Yoga involves synchronizing the breath with sun salutations and progressive series of basic postures—a process producing intense internal heat and a profuse, purifying sweat that detoxifies muscles and organs. The result is improved circulation, a light and strong body, and a calm mind. Vinyasa Yoga (moderate to advanced levels) A very popular contemporary yoga style, this class requires a good-working knowledge of the basic yoga postures. The class leads through a series of breath-synchronized postures which are linked to one another through a flowing movement--thus "flowing" into one another. The class harmonizes each movement of the body to each breath taken, so the breath is not forced to follow the actions of the body as occurs with other forms of exercise Candlelight Yoga (all levels) Step into the surrounding of a uniquely illuminated candlelit studio with soothing mellow music to guide you away from the stresses and tensions of the day. This class is open to all levels but still remains physically challenging and spiritually motivating. Through posture, breath and unique relaxing techniques you’ll end your practice with the melting (yoking) of mind and body, preparing you for a state of deep relaxation. You'll begin to gain a deeper awareness of your body and develop higher levels of strength, focus, and flexibility nourishing both mind and soul. Always being guided by your comfort, modifications are introduced for challenging poses so that all students can work comfortably at their own level.
